Sarah came to rescue from a breeding situation. She is 7 years old and has about 10 teeth.
When she arrived in Rescue she could barely walk let alone go up or down stairs. She can now go up the stairs to her favorite thing: the couch! She can also go up or down a few stairs at a time. Sarah does not like to walk on a leash and will freeze in place if you attach one to her. But once it is off, she will waddle around her foster's yard turning occasionally to make sure they are following her.
She has learned how to eat and chows down heartily at every meal. And when she's done, she climbs the stairs and holds court on the couch. She can hear very little but manages just fine.
Sarah rides well in the car, sleeps a lot, and enjoys the company of her foster sister Rachel. They take turns using each other as a pillow.
Sarah is being fostered in northern Virginia. She would benefit from a fenced yard since she does not favor walking on a leash. She has several health issues and since she only has 10 teeth, soft food or well soaked kibble are her favorite things. She also loves a Kong filled with peanut butter!
To be considered to adopt Sarah, you must live in the Mid Atlantic (Virgnia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, or DC). In addition, you must live within a two-hour drive of the foster. We require several back-and-forth visits before placing a dog and do not like to make our fosters drive too far. We prefer a fenced yard or at least a small, fenced area for Sarah to roam in. Electric fences are an absolute no-no.
