Emmy in Great Plains

Hi! My Name Is Emmy in Great Plains

I'm Available

Emmy came to Rescue in May when her owner moved and abandoned her, leaving her in the back yard.  Luckily a neighbor saw her and called Rescue.

Emmy was seen by our vet right away and treated for flea dermatitis/staph infection and intestinal worms. She does have a low grade heart murmur; there is no medication required at this time. Her liver enzymes were elevated so we ran further tests to try to figure out what could be causing this. An abdominal ultrasound revealed a hypechoic 3cm x 2cm liver mass that is well defined and small. The vet thinks this is likely an early hepatocellular carcinoma but a benign hepatoma or other form of hepatic neoplasia are not ruled out at this time. A follow up untrasound and bloodwork was performed 2 months later and there were no changes in the size. Her liver enzyme levels have improved slightly. The vet recommended following up with another ultrasound in another 6 months or so and no further treatment at this time

In spite of being abandoned Emmy is the sweetest, happiest girl! She has never met a stranger and loves every person she’s met. She is fine with all of the dogs she’s met thus far. She loves being near her foster family and anytime someone talks to her her tail starts wagging! She has a precious personality and barks when she wants attention, treats or to go outside.

She is being fostered in the Great Plains (Oklahoma, Texas) and when she is ready to be adopted, you must live in one of those states to be considered.  We prefer you live within reasonable driving distance from the foster so back and forth meetings can take place.
