The ACKCS Rescue Trust (The Trust) was founded in 2005. Prior to the formation of The Trust, rescue was handled by a committee of American Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, Inc. (ACKCSC), and the Regional Clubs. When the need for tax-exempt status with the IRS was recognized and the difficulty in obtaining liability insurance coverage for rescue became an issue, the ACKCS Rescue Trust was formed for Cavaliers in need of rescue.
The ACKCS Rescue Trust is a non-profit organization with 501(c)3 status. The Trust was organized to provide a cohesive nationwide network of rescue volunteers who love the Cavalier breed and are committed to its continued well-being. The mission of the Trust is to work toward these objectives:
♦ To accept Cavaliers whose owners can no longer keep them, Cavaliers who have been lost or abandoned, and to find responsible, stable, loving new homes for them.
♦ To rehabilitate Cavaliers before placement by providing necessary medical teatment and by providing training as needed to increase the chances of successful placement.
♦ To place Cavaliers in suitable homes as soon as reasonably possible.
♦ To inform prospective adopters about the rescue program and the requirements for caring for a Cavalier.
♦ To assist current Cavalier owners with any issues that may arise in order to make it possible for the Cavalier to remain in the original home.
