Rescue Trust

Our mission

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Rescue Trust was organized to provide a cohesive network of rescue volunteers who love the Cavalier breed and are committed to its continued well being.  The mission of the Trust is to work toward these objectives:

To accept Cavaliers whose owners can no longer keep them, Cavaliers who have been lost or abandoned, and to find
responsible, stable, loving new homes for them.

To rehabilitate Cavaliers before placement by providing necessary medical treatment and by providing training as needed to
increase the chances of successful placement.

To place Cavaliers in suitable homes as soon as reasonably possible.

To provide public education in an effort to reduce the number of Cavaliers in need of rescue.

To inform prospective adopters about the rescue program and the requirements for caring for a Cavalier.

To assist current Cavalier owners with any issues that may arise in order to make it possible for the Cavalier to remain in the
     original home.

The Trust is a full-service rescue group.

Our responsibility is to provide for the needs of any Cavalier coming into rescue for whatever reason.

Rescue services include, but are not limited to:

  •   Accepting stray, abandoned, homeless, or Cavaliers in need of re-homing on behalf of the Trust.
  •   Obtaining vaccinations, heartworm tests and other necessary medical care for rescued Cavaliers.
  •   Providing short and long-term foster for rescued Cavaliers.
  •   Educating prospective adopters about what is involved in owning a Cavalier.
  •   Accepting Preliminary Rescue Adoption Applications from prospective adopters and keeping them on file for future placements.
  •   Interviewing prospective adopters, checking veterinary references and performing home inspections.
  •   Following up with adopters to ensure that adopted Cavaliers continue to receive good care.
  •   Publicizing the rescue effort so people know how to contact the rescue group.
  •   Advising current Cavalier owners about solving problems to help them keep their Cavalier in the original home.
  •   Conducting fund-raising activities to supplement adoption donations.
